Our book cover design and formatting services include unique cover art, an interior layout to match and an ebook. Whether we’re acting as your publisher or you’re self publishing, whether fiction or non-fiction, we make sure you have all the files needed to publish your book.

Book cover design and interior formatting is the trickiest part to get right if you’re self-publishing, and it makes sense to have one professional do it all – a one-stop shop! Our book designer, Rose, is a fully qualified graphic designer and award-winning book cover creator with eleven years experience in book cover design. She keeps up to date with current design trends and works with authors to create something that takes their ideas into account while producing something that will compete well in the marketplace. We don’t offer template covers because we know your book is unique, and we want its cover to reflect that.
Rose creates covers and interiors for both ebook and paperback and can design to suit both Ingram Spark and KDP Print templates. Her design for Why Birds Fall won the Best Cover Design award in the 2020 American Fiction Awards and was a Finalist in the “Thriller – General” category.

Premium Interior Formatting
For novels and text only books a little bit of visual embellishment can go a long way in the print interior. Rose offers custom options to add decorative Chapter titles which reflect the cover design, decorative scene breaks or a custom page design or image for book ‘parts’. Some authors simply wish to include photos in their basic formatting. Price dependent on individual requirements.

Picture Books & Non Fiction formatting
Rose has experience designing image and graphic heavy non-fiction books. She also loves working closely with illustrators and authors to design children’s picture books.

The Process:
1. Ideas
Authors Publishing with us:
Our managing editor Tahlia will talk with our graphic designer Rose about your book’s key images and symbols. As part of our publishing process, we encourage you to search for stock images you like that evoke the feel of your book. Rose then gathers these and her own into a collection as inspiration and source images which will be used to create the cover.
Authors not Publishing with us:
We start with a 30 minute Zoom call with our graphic designer, Rose. This is where you get to tell her all about your book, share any cover ideas you have, and talk about the book’s key images and symbols. We encourage you to search for stock images you like that evoke the feel of your book. Rose then gathers these and her own into a collection as inspiration and source images which will be used to create the cover.
2. Ebook Cover
Rose will mockup two approaches for the ebook cover design using the source images you have curated together. Rose makes sure the designs capture your books essence, while adhering to current trends in your genre & appealing to your target readers. You pick the design you like the best and can then work with Rose over two more rounds of revisions to finalise the ebook cover.
3. Interior print book design
Once your manuscript is proofread and finalised, Rose will do the typesetting and layout for the print book. This is when the title page, chapter headings and page numbers are added. She will make sure the chapters all start on a new page and have chapter title fonts which match your cover. The lines of text will be justified and in line across the spine of the book. Now your manuscript looks like a book!
4. Print book cover
When the print layout is finished we will know how many pages the book has and, therefore, how thick the spine will be. The print cover will build on the ebook cover design, adding a spine and back cover. This is where we add your blurb, barcode and any review excerpts you’d like on the back.
5. Ebook formatting
This last step takes the finalised print layout and converts it into a file format that an e-reader recognises. This file is designed to be responsive to e-reader settings so the font, size and typesetting is changeable to each person’s taste. Our package includes both epub and mobi files as standard so your book will be compatible with all devices.
As a free gift, Rose will send you your book cover design displayed as a digital 3D book mockup image for marketing purposes and website use. Share it with your networks and start gearing up for the release!

Testimonials

Rose, I received the books yesterday. They are beautiful. You did a fantastic job with bringing the cover to life and the formatting is perfect. Thank you for a job well done. It was fun to work with you over so many miles, time zones, and hemispheres.
Now on to my next one . . .

I wanted to thank you SO much for doing such a wonderful job with “Beyond the Reef”: the covers are beautifully and evocatively designed and immediately look so appealing! I’ve been delighted to show people the proof copy this weekend, and everyone immediately comments on the bright and clever use of photos, fonts and backgrounds on the covers 😊 Also, the inside photos have worked really well – adding interest and perspective without swamping the text.
So, altogether, your input has been brilliant!! I really appreciate your patience and skill in bringing the book to birth – along with Tahlia’s invaluable contributions throughout – it’s been a very fruitful collaboration for which I’m very grateful!

Rose created book cover art for two of my novels. Rose captured the essence of my story which has helped make my novels appealing to potential readers. My books stand out because of her artistic design. Rose was a joy to work with. She is smart and talented, and professional in all her dealings. She met all the timelines of the publisher and kept me in the loop at every stage. I highly recommend Rose.
