After publishing Pete Trewin's previous book Not Without Risk, I was thrilled when he presented me with another in the same style. Pete has an edgy style that I really love, and he's produced an excellent mystery/thriller. One reviewer called Pool of Life, 'tightly wound, moving in a staccato beat through the seamy underside and scaly upper crust of Liverpool with the stakes rising higher with each explosive encounter. POOL OF LIFE: PETE TREWIN Jack ‘Flash’ Gordon’s private investigation business in Liverpool is in trouble with staffing issues and changing technology. So when Sarah Gladwyn from an old Welsh family commissions the ex-copper to investigate a series of threats and attacks from an anonymous assailant, it seems like a lifeline. The stalker is obsessed with the family’s role in oppressing the local slate workers in Victorian times and stealing Welsh water for use in England. It’s a great … [Read more...]

A 5 Star Review for ‘In Search of Jane Austen’
If you're wondering whether or not to pick up a copy of Ken Methold's latest book, In Search of Jane Austen, this great review should convince you. It was written by one of the Awesome Indies Book Awards assessors Charles Ray. When she’s asked to take on the task of verifying the authenticity of the works of recently-deceased author, Jane Austen, she’s intrigued. The supposedly reclusive Austen, just after her death the previous year, was the author of two of the most popular books in England. Coming soon: In Search of Jane Austen: An Investigation of a Life by Ken Methold
What I like about this short book on the life of Jane Austen is that it deals with biographical material in a unique and interesting way. Though the story of Jane’s life that amateur sleuth Sarah Kedron uncovers is true, the story of Sarah Kedron’s investigation is fictional. Considering that there is still some confusion over the details of Jane’s life, this book is an excellent and entertaining way of learning the facts. DESCRIPTION After Jane Austen’s death at the tragically young age of forty-two, her brother Henry published a brief biography of her life which seemed to contradict the view of others who’d known her. Intrigued by the mystery of the conflicting stories, the Prince Regent’s librarian asks Regency playwright and amateur detective Sarah Kedron to uncover the truth about Jane. Sarah takes up the challenge and interviews family members, publishers, friends, in fact, everyone who could throw some light on matter. This fascinating account of Jane’s life is … [Read more...]
