About the Author
While working as an economic development and regeneration consultant, Pete Trewin met some dodgy characters and gained a knowledge of how you might launder ill-gotten money via property development. Not direct experience, obviously. This set him on the path of writing crime novels. Pete was born in Middlesbrough under the shadow of the steel mills but has lived for many years in Liverpool.

Todd Simpson –
Excellent Thriller. I love finding a new Author that can grab my attention like Pete Trewin has, with this very clever and memorable story. Not only was it entertaining, but it had quite a unique and interesting plot, with a great range of diverse characters. I especially liked that Martin Bennett (the main character in the book), was just an average guy, and in no way perfect. However, this is one of the many reasons it made for a great story.
Martin Bennett’s life was by no means perfect, especially after having a stroke and being told by his doctor to slow down, otherwise he would need to go under the knife and have surgery. So running into John Hardin in the hospital, a man he blames for the end of his marriage years ago, wasn’t what Martin really wanted or needed after hearing the news of his stroke. However, for John to drop dead of a heart attack right in front of him, wasn’t what Martin expected either. Mind you Martin was sure that someone may have had a hand in John’s sudden demise. Especially after the police approach Martin and disclose to him that they had John under investigation. Unfortunately Martin is too inquisitive for his own good, and needs to find out what happened to John, even though he’s being threatened by some pretty dangerous men. This really is a fabulous book that gave me hours of entertainment. Well worth a read – Todd Simpson
Will Decker –
I loved the way the author stayed true to his roots and didn’t try to ‘Americanize’ the story to make it more appealing to a broader audience. The British slang and locations are true to form, even if a doddering old punter as me has a way with some of it. Lots of characters and scenes that might have been more smoothly tied together early on would have made it easier to follow, but I liked the way it all came together at the end. Very well developed characters, nicely painted scenes, and exceptionally clean editing make this book a joy to read – Will Decker
